I go to Backgammon, I look at the open requests and there are open public requests. No matter where I click it doesn't take me to a 'join' or to the game. I tried creating my own open request matching this other persons, that just posted another open request game. I finally figured how to drop that one.
About half the time I end up on the register/login screen where it will not allow me to login (because of course I already am) and it will not allow me to register (because of course my user name is taken). What is going on there?
I would love to play another human but I can't figure out how.
Thanks
How do I join an existing game?
Re: How do I join an existing game?
You cannot join an existing game, because games are not created until there is enough players for them to start. Instead you submit a request for game, by clicking on Start for any game, and following the process. Your request will be queued and the game will start as soon as there are enough matching requests.
Will look into the loading issue you are having.

Re: How do I join an existing game?
Perhaps, I misphrased it.
So, just now I found an open request, public.
I then created a request that exactly matched.
And nothing, not even my request showed up.
Am I doing something wrong?

Re: How do I join an existing game?
I am not sure what you are doing exactly. You do not have to find anything, or copy anything. You can just create a request from the lobby for the game you want, with the options you want, and it should get queued.
However if you do find a request for a 2 player public game and precisely match it, it should start a game immediately.
Further, any requests that do not start games immediately should create a request that appears in your lobby under My Requests.
So, if neither games nor requests are being created then there is a problem.

It just did it again, I exactly matched (I think) but we did not get paired and a game did not start.
Trying to post a screenshot here but I can't figure out how, if it is allowed.

Re: How do I join an existing game?
was this for a 7 point backgammon speed game?
i see that as the last request you made, however the request is cancelled. did you cancel it? possibly when it did not start you cancelled it.
assuming that is the request, i did a search for matches and right now the only matches were Private Requests... perhaps that is what you saw in the interface?

Re: How do I join an existing game?
Yes it was for the 7 point backgammon speed game. I just checked the screenshot, (that I would upload to the forum if I knew how and if it would be useful), everything seems to match and the game did not fill. So yes I canceled the speed game.
Privacy was Open, I matched that. So I don't know why. I got one casual game to fill but that has been my only sucess, other than robots.
Also, if someone, has points per match set at Any, shouldn't the game join if I match the other two criteria?
Nice touch by the way that these other games come up in my regular game queue. I appreciate that.
I also want to compliment you on how well the game itself is playing compared to the last time you and I played a match. Big improvement.

Re: How do I join an existing game?
The 1st is the game I tried to match
Game Speed: Real Time
Points Per Match: 1
Privacy: Open
This is my submission
Game Speed: Real Time
Points Per Match: 1
Privacy: Open [Drop]
No game resulted. I am going to drop because I can't be around for a real time game but I wanted to test for you.

Re: How do I join an existing game?
There has been a backgammon specific issue related to matching up the points (1,7,15) in the request. I *think* it is sorted now, at least it is working for me. Also I cleaned up that "Open Requests" section you've been using in a a number of ways.
